March 17, 2022

On March 17, 2022 Nipmuc is excited for the return of Inspired Learning Days! After putting these events on hold due to the pandemic, we're thrilled to relaunch ILDs with the March 2022 event: Blast Off! A Journey to Explore a Portrait of a Learner.

Planning for the ILD began months ago as our students and staff brainstormed exciting learning opportunities that could help us explore the skills embedded in the MURSD Portrait of a Learner. Then, by working with staff members and community partners, we designed a day of learning that is sure to inspire!

SCHOOL-WIDE BRAINSTORMING

Picture
On Wednesday, October 20, 2021 we began the school-wide process of brainstorming for our January Inspired Learning Day. In 2020, we had begun the brainstorming process for our next Inspired Learning Day. Unfortunately, we were unable to follow through with an in-person Inspired Learning Day due to COVID. This year we are excited to pick up where we left off by doing a brainstorming activity in advisory again.

In advisory, all students and staff participated in the Advisory Brainstorming Challenge (ABC). Students were given a brief presentation by their advisory teacher and asked to answer the below questions regarding what they would like to learn. All answers were posted in the lobby for peers to see, and compiled into a document for teachers to begin to bring these sessions to life.

some notes about the schedule

After reviewing the offerings, we hope that you are as excited as we are for our Inspired Learning Day. Included below is some key information about the event.
  • The schedule is currently available as "view only". Our students will have the chance to sign-up for their sessions on Wednesday, March 9 during advisory.
  • Sessions are offered in three formats: one hour workshops, half-day workshops, and full day workshops.
  • Our staff are amazing! Yes, they are experts of their subject matter but they also have diverse interests that students are excited to learn about. The Inspired Learning Day gives them the chance to bring their outside-of-school passions into the school day.
  • Community partners are key to the success of our ILD! Students will be learning directly from professionals, visiting workplaces, and helping to get insight into life beyond campus from our generous team of professional partners!
  • The Portrait of a Learner highlights six skill sets - mindful learner, global citizen, effective communicator, solution seeker, skillful collaborator, and inspired innovator - that we all need for success in the world beyond school. The schedule above can be sorted by skills so that students can easily select the options that are best for them.
